Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Principal, Athletic Director or designee, the Athletic Trainer: • ensures proper medical supervision for all home athletic contests and all home/away football games; • organizes and maintains school athletic training areas; • promotes healthy lifestyle behaviors with effective education and communication to enhance wellness and minimize the risk of injury and illness; • integrates best practices in immediate and emergency care for optimal outcomes; • provides a wide range of prevention and treatment services, including rehabilitation treatment, evaluation, reconditioning, education, and guidance for student-athletes engaged in various school sports in accordance with specific instruction from coaching staff or consulting physician; • stores, issues, repairs, and maintains all athletic-training equipment, materials and supplies; • complies with and maintains FERPA guidelines; • maintains accurate student information and updates student athletic records as needed; • accompanies students in their faith journeys; • performs other related work as required. Athletic training duties include management and provision of care for injuries to student athletes, including rendering emergency care, developing injury prevention programs, and providing appropriate preventative supplies and devices for student athletes. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of the physically active student athlete through modalities including but not limited to heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage and therapeutic exercise, reconditioning exercise and fitness programs. The Athletic Trainer works daily in the afternoon through the evening to support the athletic program. • Bachelor’s degree from a CAATE-accredited college or university in athletic training, health, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field. • BOC certification • Experience working in a school athletic department or sport facility. • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates issued by an authorized agency. • Valid California driver's license. • Valid Instructor certification to teach First Aid, CPR, and AED certification courses, is preferred.
