Job Summary
Saint Helens Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various clinical settings, including critical care and emergency medicine, and will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients of all ages. This role requires proficiency in patient assessment, airway management, and ventilator support, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' respiratory status through physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on clinical findings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in acute care settings, including ICU and PICU.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Participate in emergency response situations, utilizing advanced airway management techniques as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in respiratory therapy practices and medical terminology.
Requirements
- Valid Respiratory Therapy license or certification in the State of Oregon.
- Experience in hospital medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, or pediatrics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to respiratory function.
- Proficiency in medication administration related to respiratory therapies.
- Familiarity with ventilators and other respiratory equipment used in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively and interpret vital signs accurately.
- Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient education.
