What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager III position at Saint-Gobain North America?
The Project Manager III is responsible for leading projects from sales handoff through closeout, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and client expectations are met. This role requires strong communication, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver successful outcomes across a variety of manufacturing-related projects.
Project Execution & Oversight
Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and timeline from initiation to closeout. Develop accurate and detailed project plans and schedules. Track and report project milestones, budgets, and deliverables. Ensure all project documentation is complete, approved, and aligned with PM process maps.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain customer expectations and nurture long-term relationships. Communicate project requirements and status to internal teams and clients, verbally and in writing. Prepare and deliver presentations to cross-functional teams, Sales, and clients.
Risk & Issue Management
Incorporate risk management strategies during project execution. Diagnose and resolve project issues; schedule meetings with support teams to realign timelines when necessary. Make timely decisions based on facts and project circumstances.
Process & Compliance
Ensure purchase orders align with project proposals and contractual terms. Follow established communication processes (QuickBase, Email, etc.). Conduct project closeout meetings to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Strategic Impact
Understand the impact of projects across internal and external functions. Integrate business goals into project scope and execution.
Leadership & Departmental Knowledge
Understand vendor operations and functions of departments including Project Management, Design, Purchasing, Scheduling, Shipping, and Credit. Read and interpret plans and shop drawings, perform take-offs, and train others. Apply critical thinking and maintain objectivity. Lead by example and build relationships across teams. Motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
Business Acumen & Mentorship
Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding the industry and monitoring competition. Participate in trade organizations such as CISCA. Seek opportunities to promote company growth. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Project Managers. Manage a project portfolio of $5M cycling every 6 months ($10M /year). Travel may be required, less than 10%.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor Degree Business, Project Management
- 5-10 years - Experience reading construction drawings and perform takeoff
- 5-10 years - Industry Experience required
- 5-10 years - Proven experience managing complex projects in manufacturing or construction with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in tools such as QuickBase and MS Project.
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple priorities.
