The R&D Manager, Process and Product Design for the Roofing Product Group (RPG) is a member of the R&D management and leadership team, overseeing R&D and technical activities in support of business revenue, profitability, and top line growth. They are closely involved in the long-term planning of the group's product development strategy, building capabilities for future project initiatives, and ensuring the execution of capital projects in line with business objectives and timing. Candidate is expected to play a role in programs vital to the R&D direction of the group and will be responsible for developing direct reports and others within the group. Candidate is also expected to seamlessly integrate with plants, suppliers, and customers to support product and process development, quality improvement efforts, and business integration issues.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross functional teams by managing others to execute and deliver project objectives.
- Develop team members technical expertise in process and product design, modeling, industrialization, cost reduction, waste minimization, and continuous improvement.
- Lead R&D initiatives in the areas of process development and industrialization, scale up of new materials and product designs, design control, raw material qualifications, and manufacturing solutions, having a strong foundation in engineering, technology development, and process evaluation. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes and new products into manufacturing at plant specific locations.
- Collaborate with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, operations, quality, purchasing teams, and external suppliers, to create and execute project plans, supervise the design of experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats.
- Manage portfolio of projects and drives those projects to completion thus making direct impacts in technical, operational, and business aspects of roofing products.
- Bachelor's Degree with 18 years of experience; Master's Degree with 13 years of experience or PhD with 9 years of experience in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or other similar
