JOB SUMMARY
This position provides athletic training services to student-athletes, primarily during practice and game coverage. The athletic trainer is able to recognize, evaluate and care for athletic injuries. The role includes assessment of emergency injury situations to help determine appropriate treatment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate injury evaluations with team physician
- Communicate effectively with athletic director, head athletic trainer, team physician, coaches, student athletes, other health care professionals and parents on injury status and treatment plan
- Oversees CPR/First Aid for Saint Francis Coaching Staff
- Oversees the distribution and collection of medical kits to Saint Francis athletic teams
- Oversees the implementation of Concussion Baseline testing (Impact Testing)
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatment of student-athletes
- Provide supervision and treatment of student-athletes in game competitions and practices (before, during and after)
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of student athletic trainer program
REQUIREMENTS
- Certified by and in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification
- CPR/AED certification for Healthcare Providers
- Remain current with medical practices associated with adolescent student-athletes and maintain continuing education requirements
EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years experience at secondary school level with boys and girls
- Experience with contact/collision sports
- Experience with ImPact Neurocognitive testing
- Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques in the area of athletic training
- Demonstrates successful ability to teach, organize and supervise student-athletes
- Demonstrates successful ability to work with parent groups, administrator, staff and student athletes
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and willingness to collaborate
