JRA SUMMER POSITIONS

General Roles for every Employee:
- Works with the JRA team to provide physical and emotional safety, enjoyment, and wellbeing for all campers.
- Supports the JRA mission to ensure that each camper has a safe, fun, and adventurous experience at JRA.
- Leads by example in respecting differences among campers and staff.
- Participates in all aspects of camp activities and sets a positive example for campers and others including punctuality and sportsmanship. Exudes fun!

Qualities & Qualifications of a Successful Employee:
- Previous camp experience is highly preferred
- First Aid and CPR certifications are highly regarded
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Ability to relate to one's peer group
Qualifications:
Group Lead, college graduate or current degree-candidate
- This position reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs and is responsible for overseeing and engaging a specific age group of campers. This role includes creating an inviting, well decorated, and active area for your campers.
- The Group Lead may also have supervisory duties pertaining to assigned Counselors, Counselors-In-Training, and Volunteers.
- They will foster initiative and a sense of community with the JRA summer team.
- Each Group Lead will design and coordinate activity choices for campers. These activities may include arts & crafts, outdoor education, sports, and/or enrichment.
- The Group Lead’s mission is to ensure that each camper has a safe, fun, and adventurous experience at JRA.
- The Group Lead is responsible for the daily management of a single group of campers in a specific age group, leads campers through their daily activities, directly supervises Assistant Group Leads, and manages direct communication with parents of campers in their group.
JRA seeks in a Group Lead candidate:
- Teaching, classroom, or extensive camp experience
- Holds active First Aid and CPR certifications
- Innovative and collaborative
- Ability to observe camper behavior, asses its appropriateness, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Be actively engaged with children throughout a day
- May work long hours for extended periods of time which may include sitting or standing
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Works in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
