3rd Grade Teacher

Educate students through an integrated and interactive approach to learning based on an awareness of informed educational practice and content knowledge.  Create an engaging, inclusive, and rigorous learning environment that inspires a love of learning, cultivates critical thinking, and supports the individual growth of each child.

Teaching Duties

• The teacher should take a leadership role in improving education and model life-long learning to students and colleagues.
• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in all subject areas with an emphasis on literacy, math, and social studies.
• Establish a classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
• Assess student learning regularly, using data to inform instruction and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Participate in grade level planning, school events, and professional development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support a cohesive Lower School program.
• Build positive relationships with students and families to promote a strong sense of community.
• Cultivate a classroom culture where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking thrive.
• Integrate technology, models, and interactive learning tools to enhance inquiry-driven experiences.
• Perform all duties as outlined in the Employee/Faculty Handbook and in their professional contract.

Preferred Qualifications  

• Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  
• Experience teaching in elementary classrooms, especially 3rd grade or primary grades.
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Must be able to function in a technology rich classroom.
• Valid teaching certification not required but is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Works in a stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment. 
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
