Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient check-in process
- Schedule appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, coordinating with providers’ calendars
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate seamless billing processes
- Collect and document patient information accurately, including medical history, current medications, and reason for visit
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to answer inquiries and direct calls appropriately
- Process medical billing and collections using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, and Medicare guidelines
- Maintain organized medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper filing of electronic and paper documents
- Assist with documentation review, care plan updates, and data entry in various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Support office management tasks including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and inventory management for office supplies
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment is highly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix is essential
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare guidelines is advantageous
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly under HIPAA regulations
- Office experience involving front desk duties such as scheduling, intake processing, and clerical support is highly valued
