What are the responsibilities and job description for the packaging engineer position at Saim Technologies?
- Lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms
- Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements
- Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects to enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability
- Provide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnage and unique shipping racks domestic and international
- Apply industrial design techniques of CAD, technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
- Monitor KPI s and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packaging standards and continue to improve upon them
- Drive expendable to returnable projects and participate in sustainability initiatives; Manage project budgets, risks, and change management; Assist in vendor selection and vendor management
What You ll Bring
- Bachelor s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional ability
- Working knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.
- Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.); Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil-Spec, etc.
- Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of results
- Proficient at-risk management and communication; Team player with strong process and continuous improvement mindset
- Travel up to 30% required
