Job Title: CNC Machinist

Pay: $25 Max for 1st shift - $26.50 for 2nd shift

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate and program manually controlled and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools, including lathes and milling machines. The ideal candidate will produce precision parts by following blueprints and engineering specifications while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Functions

• Operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.
• Produce precision parts for machines, tools, and instruments.
• Program CNC mills and lathes by entering machine instructions, including zero and reference points.
• Study blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to plan machining operations.
• Monitor machining processes including drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure specifications and quality standards are met.
• Perform preventive maintenance and replace worn or dull machine components as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining or assembly issues and coordinate with engineering and production teams for resolution.
• Maintain accurate shift documentation and communicate updates through the internal electronic system.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate and program CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Experience working in a CNC production environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong computer and technical skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand for extended periods.
• Frequently required to walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
