Job Description
- Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT procedures
- Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
- Plans and implements the modernization of servers.
- Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.
- Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures.
- Works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's and eight (8) years or more experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are preferred.
- Edifecs certification a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 or more years of experience in system administration, with a focus on cloud infrastructure.
- Proven track record of managing and maintaining complex AWS environments
- Hands-on experience with both Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and Networking.
- Experience with AWS security practices and services (e.g., AWS IAM, AWS WAF).
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing scalable and secure AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Proficient in setting up and managing AWS networking components (VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating AWS tasks.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
- Experience with AWS monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config).
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize AWS instances and services for performance.
- Knowledge of AWS security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
- Implementation of encryption, key management, and data protection mechanisms within AWS.
- Experience with AWS database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipeline) and practices.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS, EKS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud-related issues.
