This position is for a Ground Segment System Engineer for a large contract supporting a cutting-edge and innovative space program. The Ground Segment System Engineer leads ground-related systems engineering activities and oversees developer software development progress. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following
Role Responsibilities
- Provide advice/analysis on ground segment requirements, design, development, integration, test, deployment, and operations support
- Support the development of ground segment architecture, CONOPS, and requirements
- Support relevant ground segment specification development and test planning activities
- Support coordination and completion of ground segment specification sell-off, along with other verification and validation activities
- Lead interface definition between the ground segment and external interfaces
- Coordinate across the Program Office for any proposed specification changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline
- Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding Segment architecture, specification, and verification and validation
- Represent the Program Office at developer Agile events; ensuring that the customer and stakeholder needs are prioritized
- Engage with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution
- Assess developer test approaches and serve as Customer Witness to integration, verification, and validation tests. Report results to the Program Office team
- Provide technical and cost assessment of vendor proposals, review technical reports, design artifacts and program plans
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Bachelors and 9 years of relevant experience; OR Masters and 7 years of relevant experience
- Experience working on a Government or Commercial satellite program
- Satellite tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, or dissemination (TCPED) experience
- Familiarity with cloud technologies
- Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with no supervision.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification or similar
- INCOSE certification or similar
- Experience with cloud-based satellite ground systems
