Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing Discovery Biology team as a Laboratory and Facilities Manager at our Watertown labs. This position oversees, plans, executes and supports the operations of the laboratory and the facility and is responsible for the day-to-day safety, maintenance and functionality of both spaces. The lab manager will also assist with the logistics and sourcing of materials for our Global Discovery and CMC Teams.
Key Laboratory Responsibilities.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and conduct regular laboratory inspections
· Oversee lab equipment installation and training
· Monitor inventory, order supplies, record and track orders and coordinate with AP for payments
· Ensure that team members have been trained to use laboratory equipment, software and supplies safely and efficiently
· Schedule Safety training for new members and review training for the team.
· Lead monthly lab operations meetings with the teams
· Collaborate with the teams to achieve objectives and to enhance the organization’s overall performance
· Ensure overall cleanliness and safety in the laboratory, monitor facilities upkeep and foster functional improvements
Key Facility Responsibilities
· Timely execute logistics plans and coordinate for shipping and receiving locally, nation-wide and overseas
· Closely collaborate with and integrate US and India lab and supply logistics
· Regularly monitor the site to identify potential issues and address them properly and timely
· Ensure the site is safe and compliant
· Manage relationships with vendors and contractors
· Establish efficient working processes and recording
Required Skills and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in business management, life sciences, Engineering or related fields
· Certification for IATA/DOT desirable
· Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements
· Ability to operate and maintain machines
· Familiarity with scientific equipment
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent project management skills
· Strong planning and critical thinking skills
· Ability to be on call after-hours for urgent or emergency situations
· Ability to lift and maintain and move heavy (> 50lb) laboratory equipment
