About the role:

As the Community Outreach and Prevention Lead at Saheli, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships, building partnerships, and engaging communities across Massachusetts to raise awareness about domestic violence and promote prevention efforts. Serving as Saheli’s Prevention Education Coordinator, this position focuses on building safer communities by increasing awareness of healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, and upstander behaviors across diverse settings.

The Prevention Outreach Coordinator is instrumental in expanding the reach and impact of Saheli’s organizational services. This role has a dual focus on community education and outreach, placing you at the forefront of efforts to build strong, supportive community networks and mobilize resources to effectively address and prevent domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to raise awareness about domestic violence within the community.
  • Organize and facilitate educational workshops, seminars, and events to promote understanding and prevention of domestic violence.
  • Collaborate with local schools, community centers, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders to expand outreach efforts.

Partnership Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with other nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, and community leaders to enhance support services for survivors.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and joint initiatives to address systemic issues related to domestic violence.
  • Represent Saheli at community meetings, forums, and events to advocate for the needs of survivors and raise awareness about our organization.

Public Relations and Communication:

  • Develop and distribute promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, and social media content, to increase visibility and reach of Saheli's programs and services.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders through newsletters, email updates, and social media platforms.

Data Collection and Reporting:

Collect and analyze data on outreach efforts, community engagement activities, and program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategies. Prepare reports and presentations documenting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement to share with the management team and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, communications, or a related field, or equivalent lived/professional experience.
  • Preferred bilingual in a South Asian language or Arabic.
  • Previous experience in community outreach, Prevention and volunteer coordination, or advocacy, particularly in the nonprofit sector (preferred).
  • Experience facilitating workshops or trainings with diverse audience
  • Ability to navigate cross-cultural communication effectively and adapt outreach strategies to resonate with the norms and values of South Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African communities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and represent Saheli professionally.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
