Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: SVSU is looking for a highly dynamic, ambitious and student-focused individual to recruit prospective graduate students and represent SVSU Graduate Programs. This individual will engage prospective graduate students in one-on-one meetings (both virtual and in-person), present to large groups, industry-specific events, college fairs, community and networking events, and more.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Admissions, Admissions Office staff members, and academic graduate program coordinators to develop and implement outreach programs and initiatives to increase enrollment and enhance retention of graduate students.

  • Attend internal and external events, including graduate recruitment fairs, regional chamber of commerce and industry-specific day/evening events, etc., to promote SVSU graduate programs.

  • Create and maintain collaborative relationships with the business community, non-profit community, healthcare community, and educational community.

  • Support prospective students professionally and ethically through prompt, consistent, and accurate communication.

  • Review and evaluate application-related materials and maintain student records.

  • Accurately enter all necessary data into an electronic contact management system to produce a weekly log of inquiries and direct student follow-up through phone and email channels.

  • Track, monitor, and assess marketing and communication activities to increase visibility of graduate programs.

  • Collaborate with others on creating and implementing graduate program events and activities.

  • Prepare periodic and special reports for the Director.

  • Work with the University Communications Team to create recruitment materials and messaging.

  • Monitor social media channels and design/develop content for various platforms.

  • Accurately enter all necessary data into an electronic contact management system to produce a weekly log of inquiries and direct student follow-up through phone and email channels.

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of each SVSU graduate program.

  • Coordinate and participate in division-related programs and services for new graduate students (e.g., orientation).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General supervision is received from the Executive Director of Admissions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Valid Michigan driver's license

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to address large groups.

  • Ability to work independently while engaging as a member of the Graduate Admissions Team.

  • Ability to plan and organize a multifaceted personal and team workload.

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative, enthusiasm, and perseverance.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings, weekends, and statewide travel.

  • Ability to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment.

  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience in college admissions or professional sales

  • Direct knowledge and experience with SVSU

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
