Campgrounds Supervisor – Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel and The Hill


Position Summary:

The Campgrounds Supervisor has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation, upkeep, and maintenance of:

  • The Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park and common areas including the beachfront, pavilion, clubhouse, check-in facilities, camp store, bathhouse, laundry facility, hiking trails, campsites, playground area, and support facilities.
  • The Hill Campground and common areas including the camp store, check-in facilities, pool area, locker rooms, and campsites.

This position is a Full-Time temporary position as the Campgrounds do not operate 12 months out of the year.


Although the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel and The Hill are enterprises of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, they operate under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits, Coaches, and Reinforces all Migizi Standards of Guest Service and Employee interactions.
  • Maintains an atmosphere of Guest Service and works cooperatively with the Service Staff to deliver this product to our Guests.
  • Provide information and education about park procedures and programs to Guests and the public.
  • Enforce park rules and regulations to ensure the safety and security of Guests and employees.
  • Coordinate with the SEWPH General Manager to assist with preparing annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Maintains SOP’s and policies for the operations of Guest Check-In, Retail Sales and other Guest purchases at both locations with a design for strict adherence with all internal controls and cash handling policies.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, state of repair, and appearance of all park facilities and structures including site lots, pavilion, club house, bathhouse, laundry facility, support facilities, walking trails, beachfront, pool area, and locker rooms. This includes coordination of trash pick-up from the grounds and the park recycling programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring processes have been established and are being followed for checking the pool water chemistry at the swimming pool at The Hil. These processes will be developed and performed with the assistance of the SEPWH Facilities team.
  • Responsible for maintaining the park infrastructure, which includes but is not limited to, common area buildings; electrical and plumbing systems; sanitary and storm sewer systems; common area fences; front and rear park entries; park roads, walkways, and parking areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring that retail displays are stocked as directed by the SEWPH Retail function. Coordinates with SEWPH Retail Management team to resolve issues and improvement ideas for retail sales.
  • Responsible for notifying the SEWPH General Manager of long-term infrastructure needs for repair, replacements, and upgrades and makes recommendations on changes to promote efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • This position will share many of its labor resources from various departments, such as SEWPH Guest Services, Facilities, and Housekeeping. The Supervisor will collaborate with the leadership of these various functions to coordinate resources and scheduling to maintain service standards at all locations.
  • Labor resources assigned to either campground location will report directly to this position as long as they are assigned and working at a campground location.
  • Hire, onboard, and train all direct reports. Train, supervise, and ensure accountability of all labor resources assigned and working at the campground facilities.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to plan and promote special events, programs, and initiatives. Monitors media and website information to make sure we are constantly supplying to product we have promised to our Guests.
  • Enforces programs and policies for emergency preparedness to assure the protection of park Guests, structures, and equipment. Trains and conducts exercises to ensure readiness of staff.
  • Responsible for sufficient inventory of materials, parts, and equipment and advises the General Manager on major projects that are needed to maintain the campground facilities.
  • Supervise and coordinate general repairs, including minor plumbing and electrical, site checks and clean-up.
  • Works closely with the SEWPH Maintenance team to coordinate the work activities of lawn and ground maintenance.
    • Maintain a routine maintenance mowing schedule.
    • Ground maintenance includes replacing damaged shrubs, planting flowers, watering, trimming trees, and clean-up of grounds after a potential wind storm.
  • Engage in activities to increase and maintain knowledge of natural and cultural resources management practices.
  • Use of computers and various software programs to perform administrative tasks.
  • Assists with checking Guests in and out through the use of the OPERA system.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Safety Hazards:

Frequent use of hands, wrists and fingers associated with computer operation, cash handling, event planning, and set-up & tear-down of events. Requires maintaining a physical condition necessary for standing or walking for prolonged periods during indoor and outdoor events. Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.


Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a leadership role.
  • A minimum of one (1) year (or operating seasons) of experience in a hotel, resort, or campground that includes full front desk responsibilities.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and Tribal driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Preferred:

  • Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe Native Preference candidate preferred.
