Weekend Caregiver
Shift: Saturday & Sunday — 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Reports To: Administrator / House ManagerLocation: Residential Assisted Living Home
Position Summary
The Weekend Caregiver provides direct resident care, supervision, and household support to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and dignified care. This position is responsible for morning routines, activities of daily living, meals, medication assistance (if delegated), and maintaining a calm home-like environment.
The caregiver serves as the primary daytime staff member during weekend hours.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Resident Care
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Grooming
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Transfers and ambulation assistance
- Provide repositioning and skin integrity support for residents with limited mobility
- Assist with feeding or meal setup as needed
- Encourage independence while ensuring resident safety
- Provide companionship and emotional support
Medication Assistance
(If delegated by RN)
- Assist residents with medications per delegation and policy
- Document medication administration accurately
- Observe and report medication side effects or changes in condition
Meal & Household Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch
- Begin dinner preparation as assigned
- Maintain clean kitchen and dining areas
- Perform light housekeeping including:
- Laundry
- Bed making
- Trash removal
- Sanitizing common areas
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment
Monitoring & Documentation
- Observe residents for:
- Changes in condition
- Falls risk
- Behavioral changes
- Skin issues
- Record care and services provided per shift
- Complete required logs and communication notes
- Report concerns promptly to Administrator or on-call nurse
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow infection control practices
- Maintain fall prevention and supervision standards
- Respond appropriately to emergencies
- Follow all community policies and state regulations
Communication & Teamwork
- Provide clear shift handoff communication
- Maintain respectful relationships with residents, families, and coworkers
- Support a positive, home-like atmosphere
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Caregiving experience preferred (Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Home Care)
- Ability to assist with transfers and personal care
- Reliable weekend attendance required
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Eligible for nurse delegation (if applicable)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Pay: From $177.05 per day
