Job Title: Live-In Caregiver / Residential Care Aide
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide round-the-clock support and personalized care to up to four elderly residents in a small residential care home. This role involves living on the premises to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents while promoting their independence and quality of life. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and committed to fostering a warm, home-like environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility support.
- Prepare nutritious meals, assist with feeding if needed, and monitor dietary needs.
- Administer medications and reminders according to prescribed plans, and monitor health conditions (e.g., vital signs).
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and engage residents in social activities, conversations, or light recreational pursuits.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, such as laundry, cleaning common areas, and maintaining a safe, organized living environment.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including overnight needs, and follow safety protocols.
- Document daily observations, incidents, and resident progress; communicate with family members, healthcare providers, or supervisors as required.
- Coordinate transportation for appointments, shopping, or outings if necessary.
- Ensure compliance with resident care plans tailored to individual needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or similar preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in caregiving, preferably with elderly residents in a home or small group setting.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with multiple residents.
- Physical stamina to assist with lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if transportation duties are involved).
- Ability to pass a background check and provide references.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor; respect for privacy and dignity of residents.
