The Fitness Center Manager supervises and coordinates all activities of the fitness center including initiating and implementing programming, setting customer service standards, managing Quality Assurance program guidelines, working with members, developing, or maintaining a group fitness program and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and can communicate and present in person, in writing and on the telephone effectively with both large and small groups in English. Skill in use of computer software, including MS-Word.
- Degree in a health-related field, preferably from four-year college/university. Work experience with older adult clientele required; experience in a senior living setting preferred. Three to five years of increasingly challenging experience in the field preferred; where applicable, staff management experience desirable.
- Ability to teach basic balance, chair exercise and muscle conditioning group fitness classes; where applicable, aquatic experience preferred. Ability to safely and accurately prescribe exercise for older adult clientele using ACSM guidelines.
- Able to generate a warm, friendly and caring manner on first impression. Must be familiar with and adhere to guidelines related to the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) regulations in all aspects of the job including sales presentations and marketing materials.
- ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist preferred. Other industry-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc) acknowledged. Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
