This role manages end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring the integrity of payroll data, timely processing, and adherence to federal, state, and company payroll requirements. The Payroll Administrator also supports payroll audits, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen payroll processes and internal controls as the organization scales.

You will partner closely with the People Team, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll operations run smoothly and that employees receive accurate and timely pay. This position is critical to delivering a reliable and positive employee experience while maintaining operational excellence within UKG Pro.

What you’d be doing:

  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for the company and affiliated entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculations for wages, overtime, benefits, taxes, deductions, reimbursements, and bonuses.
  • Process employee lifecycle changes including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and other payroll-impacting updates with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support payroll and benefits vendor selection, onboarding, and ongoing management, including requirements gathering, documentation, and implementation support.
  • Maintain employee payroll records across systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, providing timely and professional support to employees and managers.
  • Assist with multi-state payroll tax compliance, including supporting filings, payments, and coordination with external vendors to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and support quarterly and annual payroll tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • Support certified payroll reporting requirements for government or client-specific compliance needs.
  • Maintain organized payroll documentation and assist with internal and external audits, including workers’ compensation, financial audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and 1099 preparation, reconciliation, and distribution.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance to support payroll reconciliations and journal entries as part of the month-end close process.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits team to ensure accurate payroll deductions for 401(k), loan repayments, benefit plans, and related items, and support benefit plan audits as needed.
  • Generate standard and ad hoc payroll and tax reports to support Finance, HR, and business needs.
  • Identify and escalate payroll discrepancies, issues, or process gaps, and support resolution efforts.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of payroll experience, including multi-division and multi-state payroll processing, tax compliance, and administration.
  • Experience using UKG Pro to include maintaining accurate employee data across integrated systems.
  • Basic understanding of payroll accounting, including reconciliations, general ledger support, and tax reporting.
  • Understanding of payroll considerations for employees on visas, including basic compliance requirements related to tax and work authorization.
  • Strong Excel skills, including data review, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, tax inquiries, and compliance reviews.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.
  • CPP or FPC certification is a plus.
