Dental Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with dental procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily clinic activities. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and proficiency with dental technology and equipment. Experience with EMR systems OpenDental patient management software is highly preferred. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining clinical confidentiality and promoting a safe, efficient environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures.
• Assist dentist/hygienist during various dental procedures including oral surgery, restorative, and hygine visits.
• Take dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to infection prevention management protocols.
• Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Manage patient flow by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures following aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
• Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures.
• Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care instructions while ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are maintained.
• Assist with medical imaging procedures using appropriate equipment while ensuring safety standards are met.
• Support infection prevention practices by adhering to healthcare infection control standards and managing sterilization of dental tools and equipment.

Skills

• Proficiency with any dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other patient management systems.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and restorative dentistry.
• Experience with dental X-ray techniques and imaging technologies including 3D scanners.
• Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental setting.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in general dentistry environments using dental instruments and equipment.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Excellent communication skills for patient care and collaboration with team members.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and healthcare documentation standards.

Pay: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour
