Assistant Controller | Onsite in Irving, TX | Salary Range: Up to $105K base bonus

In addition to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 2 years of experience (3 strongly preferred), the ideal candidate will bring working GAAP knowledge, strong written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the initiative to find answers rather than wait for direction. A CPA is preferred but not required, and Big 4 or public accounting audit experience, particularly at the 3 to 5 year senior level making a first industry move, is a strong plus. Responsibilities
- Own accounting and review for land takedown transactions across the Communities portfolio and partner on related contract reviews
- Collaborate daily with Construction, Sales, Procurement, and Acquisitions teams, and maintain constant communication with National Shared Services on A/P matters
- Build and maintain division forecasts across 3 formal forecast and reporting cycles per year, including variance analysis and management reporting support
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations in support of a timely, accurate month-end close
- Carry select SOX control ownership and support the broader internal controls environment
- Partner with the Division Controller and peer Assistant Controller on close coordination and broader division finance priorities
- Take initiative to drive cross-functional insight and process improvement beyond a traditional close-only seat
Client Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or finance experience; 3 years strongly preferred, especially for industry-only backgrounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven collaboration across departments
- Working knowledge of US GAAP
- Stable tenure history (multiple sub-2-year stints will not be considered)
- Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in the Coppell / Las Colinas area
- CPA (active or inactive) preferred but not required
- Big 4 or public accounting audit experience preferred
- Real estate, homebuilding, construction, or other public-company, SOX-compliant industry exposure is a plus
- Prior forecasting, management reporting, or SOX control ownership is a plus
