Essential Job Functions:
- Create and implement Middle and Upper School Latin curricula
- Teach 4-5 sections of Middle and Upper School Latin, including AP Latin
- Serve as an Advisor
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Chaperone an Outdoor Education Trip
- Teach Sage Session classes
- Lead Junior Classical League club
- Complete weekly campus supervision duties
- Supervise lunch and clean-up duties 2-3 times per year
- Chaperone two after-school student government events per year
- Attend weekly faculty meetings
- Maintain up-to-date grade books, homework calendars, and parent communication
- Possess strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Blackbaud, etc.
- Support the School's mission and model the School's pillars: Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Community
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attend Back to School Night and other school functions that occur outside of school hours
Competencies Required:
- A working knowledge of Latin grammar, vocabulary, and syntax. Familiarity with Roman history, religion, and societal institutions of ancient Rome
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent coursework and three years of full-time teaching or a Master's degree and one year of full-time teaching.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, leadership, patience, persistence and embodiment of our Pillars
- Innovative mindset - curious and courageous in the implementation of high standards
- Ability to express one’s viewpoints with clarity and precision; to listen with openness and not let disagreement turn into conflict; collaborate effectively and with purpose
