Sage Health Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) and/or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide medical services to patients at multiple psychiatric hospitals and behavioral health facilities throughout the Treasure Valley.
This position focuses on the medical management of hospitalized patients receiving behavioral health treatment. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing high-quality medical care in a hospital setting.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will round at various psychiatric hospitals, performing medical evaluations, managing acute and chronic medical conditions, conducting admission and follow-up assessments, and coordinating care with psychiatric providers and hospital staff.
This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a medically underserved patient population.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform medical history and physical examinations for hospitalized patients.
- Conduct admission medical evaluations and ongoing follow-up visits.
- Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for medical concerns identified during hospitalization.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide ongoing medical management and consultation throughout hospitalization.
- Participate in discharge planning and continuity-of-care coordination.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic health record.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current Idaho NP or PA license (or eligibility for Idaho licensure).
- DEA registration or ability to obtain.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage a mobile rounding schedule.
Preferred:
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, hospital medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or inpatient settings.
- Experience working with behavioral health or psychiatric patient populations.
- Familiarity with electronic health records.
