Job Title: House Manager/Family Assistant

Location: Colts Neck, NJ 07722

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday-Friday, between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Compensation: $30 - $35 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

Requirements:

  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain

Transportation:

Family vehicle provided for errands.

About Our Family:

We are a busy, close-knit family of four with two active and responsible boys, aged 13 and 11. Both parents have high-responsibility careers, and while our boys are very self-sufficient, family is always our top priority. We believe in working together as a family to keep everything running smoothly, and we’re looking for someone who shares this value and can help us maintain our close, supportive environment.

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives in a highly organized environment. You will be someone who anticipates what needs to be done and is comfortable owning tasks from start to finish. Whether it’s managing household logistics, assisting with errands, or ensuring everything stays orderly, you should be able to work independently and stay one step ahead.

Your organizational skills should align with our family's high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. You’ll need to be comfortable with our existing systems and routines, while also being open to suggesting improvements where necessary. We value someone who can handle the details, stay on top of various tasks, and keep everything running smoothly, from coordinating with vendors to assisting with meal prep.

In terms of personality, we’re seeking someone who is warm, approachable, and able to communicate effectively with all family members. You’ll need to work closely with both parents, the children, and other staff members, so being a team player is key. We appreciate someone who is dependable, adaptable, and confident in their decision-making, but also willing to take feedback and learn.

Key Responsibilities:

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for cleaning services as needed
  • Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas as needed
  • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, basement )
  • Awareness and coordination of household schedules and calendars
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding, etc.)
  • As needed: prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups
  • Support packing/unpacking for travel or seasonal transitions
  • Supervise or coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., handymen, cleaners, landscapers)

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning
  • Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Assist with school/activity pick-ups or drop-offs
  • Light supervision, back-up childcare
  • Prep snacks for school

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Help with scheduling, and logistics
  • Research for family activities
  • Awareness of family calendars and reminders
  • Handle basic budgeting or receipt tracking for expenses incurred as house manager
  • Assist with coordination of events, appointments, and guest prep, as needed

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Plan and prep healthy snacks for kids
  • Pack school lunches (5x weekly)
  • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
  • Follow dietary needs and family preferences (healthy, pork-free)
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Schedule and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers)
  • Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes
  • Manage routine upkeep across the property
  • Oversee outdoor spaces and seasonal maintenance needs (potential to water plants as needed)
  • Serve as primary contact for vendors or guests

Vehicle Management

  • Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and inspections
  • Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Track deep cleans (ensure fridge, oven, baseboards, are completed by cleaners)
  • Help with craft/gift creation
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom)
  • Clean humidifiers, washing machines, and air purifiers monthly
  • Organize special projects: seasonal decorations, gear rotation, electronics, basement and one-off items as needed
