Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), and plumbing components.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to accurately troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct equipment repairs using various tools such as ohmmeters, welding equipment, and specialized mechanical tools; ensure all repairs meet safety standards.
- Install new HVAC/R equipment and systems in compliance with industry codes and project specifications.
- Lead field service activities involving property maintenance tasks such as appliance repair, ductwork adjustments, and system upgrades.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports; communicate clearly with clients regarding system status and recommended solutions.
- Operate a vehicle safely while transporting tools, parts, or equipment to job sites.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician with strong mechanical knowledge in HVAC/R systems; construction background is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with schematics interpretation, HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), and boiler operation.
- Skilled in equipment repair techniques including welding and the use of diagnostic tools like ohmmeters.
- Knowledge of property maintenance practices along with appliance repair skills; familiarity with field service operations is preferred.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately; experience with HVAC/R system installation is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling (Section 608), HVAC/R licenses, or equivalent are advantageous; mechanic experience is beneficial.
