Network Architect

Our direct State client is seeking an architect to join the Enterprise Architecture team. This individual will work with key members focusing on strategic planning, design, and the long-term vision, ensuring network solutions align with the organization. All computer networks need to be configured in such a way that all end users can securely and efficiently access the applications, data, and tools, this also involves implementing the network to meet rigorous security standards alongside installing and configuring hardware elements. Candidates must be able to provide documentation throughout the design and deployment process as a reference for future network enhancements or maintenance. Provide overall technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices around networking

Responsibilities

• Document comprehensive network designs that integrate multiple network technologies, such as LANs, WANs, wireless networks, and VPNs, to support the organization’s business operations and communication needs.
• Cloud centric network design, including multi-tenant, multi-region (intra US) deployments and multi-vendor technologies across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS tiers
• Data centric network design for efficient data transfers within the agency and across agencies and with other business partners and public or otherwise external data sources
• Incorporate network solutioning with our emerging Cloud FinOps practice to support cost analysis and cost modeling for networking related cost
• Design and document the entire network implementation process
• Monitoring network performance and taking follow-up steps to resolve latency issues and security concerns
• Creating documentation throughout the design and deployment process for future reference
• Develop patterns and standards for all network designs
• The ability to analyze data traffic and system performance to determine future upgrades.
• Work with our IT staff and thirds-party equipment and software vendors to ensure the network needs are met.
• Research new technologies and solutions, and asses new technologies for adoption
• Define multisite network operations and software applications.
• Train, mentor, and transfer skills to the extended team.
• Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains and networking layers.
• Aligns architecture strategy with business goals.
• Defines, explains, and advocates technology strategy.

Requirements:

• 10 years in technical network design and architecture across network hardware and software platforms.
• 6 years designing, building, and maintaining complex multi‑tier network environments.
• 10 years managing large‑scale networks, with strong focus on security, compliance, firewalls, and security protocols.
• 6 years in advanced network design and architecture, including use of network simulation/modeling tools and applying network security best practices.
• 6 years conducting site assessments of WAN/LAN/WLAN environments, diagnosing issues, and creating hierarchical network designs for remote sites.
• 10 years using project data and documentation tools, including creating detailed network design documents and presentations in Visio.
• 5 years designing and implementing global Azure cloud networking solutions, including migrating key servers to cloud services to support revenue‑generating systems.
• 10 years working with network security frameworks and best practices, cloud networking/virtualization, and IoT network infrastructure and protocols.
