Description
- Environmental Compliance:
- Maintain and apply for environmental permits (air, wastewater, stormwater, radiological) and conduct routine compliance inspections and audits.
- Maintain environmental records and submit required reports to EPA and MDE, including air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, and radiological filings.
- Manage hazardous waste storage, 90‑day accumulation areas, waste manifests, and vendor oversight to ensure full RCRA and DOT compliance.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments for chemical storage, solvent use, and chemical material handling.
- Sustainability Leadership:
- Lead the site’s sustainability program by developing CO₂‑reduction strategies, managing the sustainability budget, and implementing innovative waste‑ and energy‑reduction projects.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to plan and execute carbon‑reduction initiatives and communicate progress through visual management, presentations, and digital channels.
- Engage employees to propose sustainability ideas and evaluate initiatives for feasibility, cost effectiveness, and alignment with corporate goals.
- Safety Program Responsibilities:
- Support the site safety program by implementing safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and corporate EHS requirements.
- Support investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and anomalies; identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Oversee safety controls related to chemical handling, chemical exposure, thermal risks, and safe product storage procedures.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of production areas, chemical storage, high-voltage areas, and energy‑dense material handling zones.
- Maintain and update safety procedures, including LOTO, hot work, confined space, chemical hygiene, and emergency response.
- Support industrial hygiene monitoring for VOCs, particulates, noise, and thermal hazards.
- Data & Systems Management
- Manage environmental and EHS data in the Data Management System to ensure accurate recordkeeping, trend analysis, and reporting.
- Track leading and lagging indicators, sustainability metrics, waste generation, incident trends, and regulatory deadlines.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental, occupational safety, or other related fields of study. A degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry would also be applicable.
- 5–10 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and safety program management in manufacturing or similar high‑hazard industries.
- MUST NE A US CITIZEN OR GREEN CARD HOLDER
- RCRA and DOT training required; ability to classify hazardous waste and manage waste programs.
- Experience implementing OSHA safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and managing industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Familiarity with lithium‑ion battery manufacturing hazards is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in outdoor weather extremes, bend, squat, twist, stand for hours, climb, and sit for long hours.
- Specific knowledge:
- Experience in metal or electronics recycling, or related industry, preferred.
- Experience with environmental regulators and assuring site compliance with regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
