JOB TITLE: School Bus Driver I

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To maintain and operate the bus to ensure safe and orderly transportation of our students.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Has in possession a current C.D.L. and bus card.
• Sweeps and dusts the bus each day.
• Keeps front windows and mirrors clean.
• Keeps a small box up front for trash.
• Learns the names of the students on the bus and where they sit each day; assigns seats and keeps a chart.
• After each route, walks through the bus and inspects it for torn seats, objects left on the bus, etc.
• Reports to supervisor any mechanical problems with the bus.
• Inspects the tires, lights and fuel gauges daily.
• Enforces all safety rules on the bus.
• Is on schedule and not early when picking up students in the mornings.
• Stops only at designated school bus stops.
• Does not change routes or stops without permission from supervisor.
• Transports only assigned students or those who have permission from supervisor or Principal.
• Performs maintenance duties as assigned.
• Calls the administration office or bus barn when late and/or absent.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
