Safety Consultant

Position Summary

Safety Resources Company of Ohio is seeking an experienced and motivated SafetyConsultant to join our team. This position will be responsible for delivering OSHA-related safety meetings, conducting safety training, performing construction site assessments, and providing safety oversight for clients on an as-needed basis.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, excellent communication and presentation skills, and practical experience in the construction industry. Previous experience working in the construction trades is preferred.

Training materials and course materials will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks covering OSHA-related topics and workplace hazards.
• Lead safety training classes for employees and clients on a variety of topics, including:
• Forklift/Powered Industrial Truck Safety
• Aerial Lift and Scissor Lift Safety
• Overhead Crane and Hoisting Safety
• Fall Protection
• OSHA Construction Standards
• Hazard Communication
• PPE
• Lockout/Tagout
• Excavation and Trenching
• Confined Space Safety
• Other OSHA-related safety topics as needed
• Conduct site safety assessments and inspections at construction and industrial jobsites.
• Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and provide recommendations for corrective action.
• Provide safety oversight and support at client jobsites on an as-needed basis.
• Assist clients with OSHA compliance and hazard recognition.
• Communicate safety requirements effectively with employees, supervisors, foremen, and management.
• Complete written inspection reports, training documentation, and other required safety paperwork.
• Stay current with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and accepted safety practices.
• Represent the company professionally when working with clients and their employees.
• Travel to client locations throughout Ohio and surrounding areas.
• Work occasional extended days, weekends, or overnight assignments when required by client needs.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction and/or General Industry Standards.
• Previous construction trades experience is preferred.
• Ability to recognize hazards and provide practical, effective corrective measures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable speaking in front of groups and conducting classroom and hands-on training.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Professional appearance and attitude when representing the company at client locations.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel throughout Ohio, with occasional overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications

The following certifications or experience are highly desirable:

• CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor certification
• OSHA 10/30-hour training experience
• Forklift/Powered Industrial Truck trainer experience
• Aerial Lift/Scissor Lift trainer experience
• Overhead Crane training experience
• Fall Protection training experience
• Confined Space experience
• Previous experience as a construction foreman, supervisor, competent person, or safety professional

Interview Requirements

As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge and proficiency in OSHA-related safety topics. Candidates should be prepared to discuss common construction hazards, OSHA requirements, hazard recognition, corrective actions, and how they would present safety information to employees.

Candidates may also be asked to demonstrate their ability to effectively conduct a safety meeting or training session.

Physical and Work Requirements

This position requires the ability to work both in an office/classroom environment and on active construction and industrial jobsites. The employee may be required to walk jobsites, climb stairs or ladders, access elevated work areas, and work around construction equipment and other jobsite hazards while following appropriate safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Travel

This position requires travel throughout Ohio and surrounding areas. Some assignments may require overnight stays depending on client needs and jobsite locations.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and confident safety professional who can communicate OSHA requirements in a practical, understandable manner. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with both experienced construction personnel and employees who are new to safety training.
