SMG is seeking Part-Time Communications Coordinator in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.
The Communications Coordinator supports Safety Management Group’s corporate communications efforts by developing, editing, and organizing a wide range of internal and external materials. This role helps maintain consistency, clarity, and professionalism across the company’s written deliverables—from proposals and presentations to internal messaging and strategic communications.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable shifting between priorities. You’ll work closely with the Communications Manager and project leads across departments to create high-quality content that reflects SMG’s values and standards. The position is part of a shared services model, meaning work may span internal communications, marketing support, and client deliverables depending on company needs and capacity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Edit and format corporate documents, proposals, presentations, and communications for tone, clarity, and accuracy.
- Coordinate document flow, version control, and review processes to keep projects on track and organized.
- Support the creation and maintenance of company templates, content libraries, and style guides.
- Draft or refine internal communications such as announcements, newsletters, or leadership updates.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical or operational content into accessible, professional language.
- Assist with presentation development, formatting, and visual organization.
- Provide overflow writing and editing support for marketing and client-facing materials as needed.
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation standards within the Communications function.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or related field—or equivalent writing/editing experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
