Bartenders

JOB SUMMARY:

A bartender in the restaurant, Tiki bar or Lobby Lounge should at all times be courteous to guest and customers, addressing members, spa guests and any regular customers by their formal name. Give them all of your attention, and fulfill their requests. Complete your bar set-up, prepare and serve drinks, and clean up all the bar area during the course of your shift. It is required that your uniform be meticulous, with proper grooming.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform cashier duties with the responsibility of a bank, and server duties whenever necessary.

• Have bar set up and ready to go, prior to scheduled opening time.

• Never leave bar during scheduled time, unless properly relieved by another bartender or the manager/supervisor.

• Courteously receive all guests. If you cannot comply with a request, or it is beyond the scope of your responsibility, turn the request over to the manager.

• At all times, the bar area should be maintained in a clean and organized condition.

• After bar is closed break down and thoroughly clean bar and related areas as assigned by the manager.

• Responsible for serving guests requested drinks and food from menu.

• Setting up the bar during designated hours.

• Inspect beverage storage and sanitation of bar areas.

• Responsible for daily list of all drinks sold, liquor inventory and requisition of beverage supplies.

• To prevent serious accidents, keep traffic areas clear of obstacles, pick up all dining room debris and to wipe up all spills immediately. Check your shoes to make sure you are not tracking into dining room any kitchen debris or grease.

• Florida health code: all employees MUST wash their hands thoroughly after using the restroom.

• VERY IMPORTANT: company policy stipulates not to handle any item that a guest has touched with an open wound. Attention must be brought to manager/supervisor who will contact staff nurse.

• Maintain a cooperative team like attitude in working with the manager, supervisors and fellow employees, both within the department and other resort & spa departments.

• The resort and spa functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at times, it may be necessary to change from their accustomed shift due to business demands.

• All requested days off or vacation time must be approved by management in advance.

• Maintain a positive attitude towards the guests, the resort and spa and job being performed.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule: days, nights, weekends and holidays and overtime if necessary.
• Previous bartender experience preferred.
• Must have strong guest service skills.
• Must be able to communicate in the English language.
• Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interface with all levels of guests, staff, and clients.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop and lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
