Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employmentGeneral Summary:The Senior Accountant/ Grants Management is responsible for maintaining financial reports, records and general ledgers, billing contracts, create recurring budgets, responds to internal and external inquiries, attend Cross Functional meetings, assists in budget proposal preparation, and performs general bookkeeping. The Senior Accountant/ Grants Management is also responsible for accounts receivable payments, compliance with contractual obligations, and Safer’s overall performance.Performance Results DescriptionThe Position is properly performed when all essential duties and responsibilities are executed by following theSafer Values.Exceeding Expectations, Communication and Collaboration, Integrity and Evidence Based Innovation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Stakeholder Interface and ServiceOversee distribution of monthly reconciliations to the program managersSupervise Accounting ClerkFacilitate the training of Accounting Clerk train to prepare billing templatesServe as liaison and represent Safer in stakeholders’ meetingServe as supportive backup to other members of the Finance Department team as neededProvides codification of general ledger line itemsEnsure all contracts and awards are in regulatory complianceTake lead in program audits with results of no findingOther duties may be assigned.Stakeholder Outreach and RecruitmentParticipate in weekly Cross Functional Fund Development meeting.Ensure that internal and external customers receive the highest standard of customer service, including the protection of confidential and private information.Collaborate with accounting staff to ensure cash receipts are applied to proper program receivables.Collaborate with Accounting Clerk to ensure billings and required reports are submitted timely and accuratelyTracking, Document, and ReportingResponsible for updating and maintaining the fiscal contract filesCreate Spend Down Reports, distribute to managers, and provide any support as neededRecord Program Revenue monthly transactions.Complete monthly billings and reconciliations.Follow up on any outstanding Billing AR over 45 daysPrepare Quarterly and Closeout reportsFacilitate recurring funder budgets and necessary revisionsMaintain and update Cost Allocation Plan add accurate allocation for new programsFinancials of Safer are copied and distributed in a timely and prompt manner.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and establish priorities.• Hands-on experience and self-sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook (for email), Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging).• Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.• Must possess analytical skills.• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects.• Must have strong interpersonal skills.Education and Experience:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.• 2 to 5 years of not-for-profit experience required• Experience in annual audits and audit requirements• Experience in the annual budget process• Knowledge of financial systems and computerized accounting software packages.Safer Foundation is a drug-free workplace.
