Role Description

The Mortgage Curriculum Developer & Course Writer — NMLS PE/CE is a full-time, hybrid position based in Troy, Michigan, with flexibility for remote work.

This individual will be responsible for developing and writing mortgage education curriculum, including NMLS Pre-Licensure Education and Continuing Education course content. The role requires the ability to translate complex mortgage laws, regulations, and industry concepts into clear, engaging, and effective learning experiences.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Researching federal and state mortgage laws, regulatory requirements, NMLS educational standards, and industry practices
  • Developing course outlines, learning objectives, instructional content, and learner resources
  • Writing assessments, knowledge checks, case studies, scenarios, and other educational activities
  • Designing structured, outcomes-based curriculum for adult learners
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts, instructors, and compliance resources
  • Reviewing and revising existing curriculum for accuracy, clarity, relevance, and learner engagement
  • Adapting educational content for instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, and e-learning delivery formats
  • Supporting the development of course materials intended to meet applicable NMLS and SAFE Act educational requirements
  • Maintaining organized documentation, version control, and content-development records
  • Monitoring regulatory and industry changes that may require curriculum updates
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of SAFEPath Learning’s courses and overall learner experience
Qualifications
  • Strong curriculum development and instructional design skills, with the ability to create organized, outcomes-based educational content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex regulatory, legal, or financial concepts in clear and approachable language
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Experience interpreting mortgage regulations, NMLS requirements, compliance guidance, or financial-services standards
  • Experience in mortgage lending, mortgage education, regulatory compliance, instructional design, or financial-services training is highly preferred
  • Direct experience developing NMLS PE or CE curriculum is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with adult-learning principles, assessment development, and e-learning platforms
  • Experience creating learning objectives, course outlines, assessments, case studies, and instructional resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a hybrid environment
  • Experience with mortgage loan origination, SAFE exam instruction, NMLS-approved education, learning-management systems, or educational compliance will be considered a significant advantage.
