Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Manager to oversee the daily operations of our shelter. The Shelter Manager shall support residents while entering and exiting the shelter, provide for crisis needs, and assist residents with connecting to community resources.
Responsibilities
- Complete intake forms, exit forms, risk assessments, safety plans, and related paperwork including surveys and evaluations as required or requested by agency and in accordance with confidentiality policies for residential and non-residential victims/survivors.
- Maintain accurate records for shelter residents in accordance with funder/grantor and agency policies and standards.
- Provide information, support and referrals about community resources and support services (TANF, Food Stamps, childcare, transportation, housing, WIC etc.) to shelter residents.
- Be available for callers on the Hotline and TTY.
- Maintain shelter safety, cleanliness, organization and readiness for shelter residents.
- Document, organize and distribute donations in accordance with agency policies.
- Support and empower clients to develop and work towards achieving individual and family goals.
- Attend and participate in scheduled supervision meetings with the Executive Director as required.
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff and team meetings as required.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in behavioral health or social services is highly desirable.
- Proven conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Basic understanding of the dynamics and impact of domestic violence is required.
- Must possess ability to provide empathetic, non-judgmental support to clients. Knowledge of local resources available to victims of domestic violence is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed to meet the needs of the shelter.
- Must be flexible with schedule and have reliable transportation.
- High School Diploma required.
