Janitorial/ Day-Porter

Safeguard Maintenance Corporation is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Day Porter to support operations. This position is tailored to meet the daily needs and priorities of the customer, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed efficiently and professionally throughout the workday.

The Day Porter will report directly to the customer that Safeguard represents and will receive daily instructions and assignments from them. Flexibility, responsiveness, and professionalism are key, as the role involves regular customer interaction and dynamic responsibilities.

We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their work and is dedicated to maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all building occupants and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Restroom Maintenance: Inspect and clean public restrooms per shift. Replenish toiletries (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, sanitary products, seat covers), clean mirrors, sinks, toilets, and mop floors using disinfectant.
• Public Area Upkeep: Continuously monitor and clean public spaces by removing litter, mopping spills, emptying trash, and removing graffiti or stains from surfaces.
• Entrance and Exterior Maintenance: Keep building entrances and exterior perimeters clean and orderly. Remove debris, cigarette butts, and trash. Sweep standing water and perform minor snow removal tasks as needed.
• Trash Management: Empty interior and exterior trash receptacles, replace liners, and clean receptacles monthly.
• Window and Surface Cleaning: Clean interior/exterior lobby windows, doors, windowsills, and building porticos. Spot clean display cases, plaques, and brass fixtures.
• Elevator Cleaning: Vacuum elevator cabs, clean doors, buttons, and walls. Remove debris and install/remove protective pads as needed.
• Work Orders & Special Tasks: Complete assigned work orders, including moving furniture, delivering water bottles, cleaning small office refrigerators, lightbulb changing, and assisting with event setups and breakdowns.
• Carpet & Weather Prep: Place/remove carpet runners in response to weather conditions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior janitorial or porter experience is a plus
• Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods

Work Environment:

This position involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. It may require physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

Pay: $16.00 per hour
