What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Inspector position at Safeguard Global?
The Fire Inspector is responsible for completing service requests at various locations throughout a given territory. Inspect and test fire alarm systems to ensure that they function effectively and meet NFPA standards. Adjust or repair malfunctioning systems. Perform basic suppression system and fire extinguisher inspection service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Schedule fire alarm, fire suppression system and fire extinguisher inspections
- Run test and inspection on fire alarm and fire suppression systems
- Coordinate with the local fire department to avoid response to testing
- Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to develop and complete NFPA testing documents for client
- Repair system if necessary or inform the Service Department of customer needs
- Advise customer of test and inspection results
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Previous experience in fire alarm, security system or low-voltage installations preferred.
- Knowledge of wiring, networking, and electrical systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents preferred.
- Industry certifications (e.g., NICET REQUIRED, ESA, or manufacturer-specific training a plus)
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Must have the ability to walk long distances and climb multi-story stairs.
- Field-based role with travel to customer sites.
- May require overtime, evening, and weekend work based on customer needs.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and work environments.
- Occasional out-of-town travel with provided accommodation and per diem.
