Job Summary

Our Fire Sprinkler Service Technician is a professional who specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. These systems are designed to automatically detect and extinguish fires in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, and are a critical component of fire safety. Fire Sprinkler Service Technicians work with a variety of system types, including wet, dry, and pre-action systems. The work of a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician includes tasks such as installing new systems, inspecting and testing existing systems, troubleshooting and repairing problems, and performing routine maintenance. They must also be familiar with local and national fire codes and regulations and must ensure that systems are following these codes. Additionally, they may be called upon to provide training and education to building owners and occupants on the proper use and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.

This position reports to the Vice President of Sprinkler.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from the office, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
• Use mobile app to manage reports, log hours, and updated dispatch.
• Contact customer representatives and ascertain equipment/system problems.
• Receive and effectively execute customer service calls. Participate in an afterhours on call rotation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair fire sprinkler systems and their associated equipment.
• Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and multi-family housing applications. These include but are not limited to wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, standpipe, and fire pump systems.
• Perform both visual and functional tests including but not limited to, backflow, dry valve, piping, and main drain testing.
• Identify and document material needs for deficiency correction quoting.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly
• Position includes regular travel between multiple customer locations. Candidates should be prepared for, and capable of extensive driving while maintaining the ability to manage a mobile work schedule
• Maintain company vehicle and inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business, operational, safety, and customer service needs, which may change from time to time.

Qualifications

• 1 year of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair of Fire Sprinkler systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Flexibility to occasionally work out of town (never over weekends)
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and aerial platforms, working within confined spaces, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
• Ability to sit/stand/walk/bend for long periods and maneuver tools, pipe, and equipment throughout the workday.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in confined spaces where significantly high/low temperatures are present.
• Committed to safety.
• Must have the ability to work alone or within a team.
• Strong attention to detail while producing accurate and high-quality work.
• NICET certification is a plus.
• Backflow certification is a plus.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business, operational, safety, and customer service needs.
• Pass required drug screening per company policy.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurance requirements with the ability to drive long distances.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone, video, email, and other electronic formats.
• Read, interpret, and follow written procedures, policies, and instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
• Perform repetitive motions, and prolonged computer or device use as required by role.
• Work standard business hours with flexibility based on role needs.
• Participate in assigned on-call rotations.
• Use dispatching software and mobile applications.
• Document findings accurately in written and electronic systems.
• Make real time decisions in dynamic or high-risk environments.
• Perform basic system maintenance and document findings.
• Follow scheduled work hours and promote additional products and services.
• Identify hazards and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Maintain balance and coordination while working at heights, on ladders, lifts, uneven surfaces, or confined spaces.
• Work safely in time sensitive or emergency response situations.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory.
• Travel between customer locations in IN and KY and manage a mobile schedule.
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and emergencies.
• Perform repetitive physical motions throughout the workday.
• Safely lift, push, pull, or carry equipment up to 100 lbs. with assistance as required.
• Work in temperature extremes and physically demanding conditions.
