This position plays a key role in maintaining the City's facilities by performing plumbing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across multiple buildings and infrastructure systems. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Facilities Plumber to join our team of professionals. This position plays a key role in maintaining the City's facilities by performing plumbing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across multiple buildings and infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, solutions-orientated, and takes pride in keeping essential systems operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment, including sinks, toilets, water fountains, water heaters, and irrigation lines.
- Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues in a timely and professional manner
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems to ensure reliability and compliance with codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing layouts
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff, electricians, HVAC technicians, and outside contractors as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety standards, and department procedures.
- Interacts and communicates with contractors, city administrators and the general public. Required to obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training ICS 100, 200 & 700. In the event of a disaster or declared State of Emergency, be on 24-hour emergency call for public assistance.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, typically 8 hours/day Monday through Friday, and to include 24-hour, 7-day emergency service.
- Assists in several special events, some of which take place on holidays.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
- Minimum of 3 years of plumbing experience, preferably in a facilities or maintenance environment
- Valid state or county issued Journeyman or Master Plumber license
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Working knowledge of plumbing codes, safety practices, and maintenance procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy tools and materials; perform physical work in varying environments
