Job Summary
The Director of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Director of Operations to oversee and manage the daily operations of our behavioral health and substance abuse treatment facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of CARF accreditation standards, experience with dual-diagnosed (mental health and substance use disorder) populations, and a strong background in Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). This individual will also lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of organizational policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of all clinical and non-clinical programs, ensuring compliance with CARF accreditation standards, Medicaid regulations, and organizational policies.
- Lead program development and management for services addressing dual diagnosis (mental health and substance abuse) client populations.
- Create, implement, and regularly update policies and procedures to maintain operational efficiency, risk management, and compliance.
- Direct and supervise operational managers, clinical supervisors, and administrative personnel to ensure effective service delivery and continuity of care.
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, staffing plans, and operational metrics to meet programmatic and financial goals.
- Work closely with the CEO and leadership team on strategic planning, program expansion, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead the preparation, coordination, and execution of CARF accreditation surveys, audits, and licensing inspections.
- Provide leadership and guidance in IOP program development, including scheduling, staffing, documentation requirements, and curriculum enhancement.
- Monitor service delivery outcomes to ensure evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care approaches are consistently integrated.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high ethical standards across all departments.
- Serve as a key liaison with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
- Regularly assess client needs, program effectiveness, and staff training requirements to recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicaid/Medicare billing regulations, and other applicable federal and state laws.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in a behavioral health, substance abuse, or healthcare operations setting.
- Extensive experience with CARF accreditation processes and standards.
- In-depth understanding of treating dual-diagnosed (co-occurring) mental health and substance abuse disorders.
- Proven success in designing, managing, and optimizing IOP programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating, revising, and enforcing organizational policies and procedures.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing practices, insurance authorizations, and payer regulations.
- Experience implementing trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and documentation requirements.
- Professional certifications in project management, healthcare administration, or behavioral health management a plus.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with frequent interaction with clinical, administrative, and support staff.
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours based on operational needs.
- Periodic local travel for training, conferences, or outreach activities.

Pay: $20.62 - $22.92 per hour
