Job Summary
The Domestic Violence Advocate plays a crucial role in supporting individuals affected by domestic violence. This position involves providing emotional support, crisis intervention, and practical assistance to victims, helping them navigate their options and access necessary resources. The advocate will work closely with clients to empower them in their journey towards safety and recovery while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Duties

  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals experiencing domestic violence.
  • Conduct assessments to identify client needs with a focus on shelter and housing.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, including shelters, legal services, and counseling.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and data entry for tracking client progress.
  • Negotiate leases with clients and landlords. Maintain good working relationships with property managers.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and organizations to enhance service delivery.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in case management practices to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health principles and behavior management techniques.
  • Experience in crisis intervention strategies to address immediate client needs effectively.
  • Familiarity with first aid procedures to ensure client safety during emergencies.
  • Data entry skills for maintaining accurate records of client interactions and progress.
  • Background in social work or related fields is preferred, enhancing the ability to understand client challenges.
