Adult Counselor

Safe Passage has an opening for a full time DV/SA Adult Counselor. This position requires a master’s degree in human services area. Must have an understanding of sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma, and victim-centered services. Candidate will possess organizational abilities, good listening skills, and the ability to multi-task. Spanish speaking a plus.

The DV/SA Adult Counselor will provide domestic violence, sexual assault counseling, and crisis intervention services to victims of DV/SA. This position will work 2 evenings per week.

The DV/SA Adult Counselor will:

• Provide individual and family counseling to victims and significant others.
• Facilitate and co-facilitate support groups.
• Participate in on-call by responding to hospitals and police departments.
• Participate in case consultations regarding clients.
• Advocate for clients with other agencies in the community (e.g., DCFS, local mental health centers, etc.)
• Provide community referrals when necessary.
• Participate in the training of staff, volunteers, and interns.
• Participate in, prepare, and plan activities for Awareness Months.

Required Education and Experience

Master’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

It is a direct service client support position requiring the exercise of discretion and good judgment and is required to work a full-time work week, including 2 evenings/week.
