What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education and Outreach Coordinator position at SAFE on Main?
Are you passionate about empowering young people and creating safer communities? We're looking for a dedicated leader to implement violence prevention programming and manage our Youth Leadership program for students in grades 7-12. You'll be responsible for developing and teaching curriculum, facilitating workshops, and engaging with students and the wider school community. This role also drives public awareness through the creation of social media content and strategic campaigns that educate and empower young people.
Core Responsibilities:
- Research and adapt "best and promising" practices curricula on domestic, sexual, and dating violence prevention, ensuring age-appropriateness and cultural relevance for youth and adults.
- Facilitate engaging and participatory workshops and presentations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including local agencies, schools, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, and advocacy groups.
- Organize and participate in community events to raise awareness and promote prevention resources.
- Administer and maintain online prevention tools and applications utilizing various communication channels to reach diverse audiences within the schools and the community.
- Develop and implement public awareness campaigns and materials to educate the community about domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, their impact, and prevention strategies.
- Collect and analyze data related to prevention activities and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on program progress and impact for the supervisor and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate unwavering professionalism, ethical conduct, and a commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of SAFE on Main in all interactions and responsibilities.
- Maintain professional certifications and training.
Qualifications & Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Public Health, Counseling, or a related field.
- Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) or Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) preferred, with a demonstrated understanding of the Ohio prevention landscape. If not currently certified, must complete applicable credentialing requirements within a 2-year timeframe.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sexual and domestic violence prevention best practices and curriculum development.
- Experience facilitating educational programs or workshops for adults and community organizations.
- Strong understanding of community prevention and effective engagement strategies.
- Proficiency in utilizing social media platforms and online tools for outreach and education.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A commitment to the mission and values of SAFE on Main.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
