MEDICAL ADVOCATE
35 HOURS PER WEEK (FT) (NON-EXEMPT)
Engage in health systems and medical professional advocacy to improve awareness and response to domestic violence victims and survivors. Train allied professionals at Local Hospital/Healthcare Clinic on the appropriate medical response to domestic violence. Provide domestic violence program staff with training and technical assistance for hospital and medical-based advocacy.
$30,448.00 per year
General Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience and skills.
· Experience in the field of domestic violence, counseling or medical field.
· Ability to work independently and handle emergency situations.
· Knowledge of community resources.
· Access to private transportation, valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
· Computer proficiency.
Supervisor: Executive Director
Position Specific Duties:
· Provide all aspects of domestic violence training and continued assistance to physicians, nurses, professional and office staff in various health care facilities.
· Responsible for Medical Advocacy Team meetings.
· Provide systems advocacy to healthcare providers and individual medical advocacy for clients.
General Duties:
· Provide crisis/options counseling, referrals, safety planning and shelter options.
· Provide emergency shelter coverage as necessary including holidays when necessary.
· Participate in PCADV 40 hour Volunteer training.
· Responsible for gaining 8 hours additional training per year.
· Maintain accurate client files and documentation in ETO data base according to funding contracts in a timely manner.
· Attend all staff meetings.
· Cover hotline on a rotational basis.
· Maintain flexible working hours.
· Responsible for receiving and storing donations.
· Uphold SAFE policies, procedures and confidentiality.
· Assume additional responsibilities as assigned or required.
Requirements:
· Must be able to obtain a criminal background check, child abuse clearance and FBI clearance.
· Must be able to obtain references.
· Must complete SAFE’s 40 hour Domestic Violence Counselor/Advocate Training required by PCADV.
