Summary
The Deputy Chief Program Officer (DCPO) works closely with the Chief Program Officer and Safe Horizon senior leadership to ensure successful program operations and high-quality client services. The DCPO plays a lead role in ensuring achievement of strategic priorities through new program development and special projects. The DCPO ensures that programs are implementing standardized client-centered safety assessment and risk management practices, consistent clinical practices and assessments, while at the same time successfully achieving contracted deliverables.

The DCPO plays a lead role in ensuring achievement of strategic priorities through new program development and special projects. The DCPO ensures that programs are implementing standardized client-centered safety assessment and risk management practices, consistent clinical practices and assessments, while at the same time successfully achieving contracted deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Chief Program Officer, Research and Evaluation department and Program Leaders to implement quality assurance efforts that prioritize high quality, client-centered and anti-oppressive services.
- Work with the Senior Director of Learning and Staff Development and Program Leaders to ensure that training and staff development meets the needs of staff and is furthering our organizational commitment to client-centered practice, anti-oppression, listening to and learning from survivors, quality and excellence.
- Works closely with the Chief Program officer to ensure consistent case practice across all Programs including case management, advocacy and clinical services.
- Provides expert knowledge in a range of areas of victimization, with a heavy emphasis clinical practice and supports for people who have experienced violence, abuse and exploitation.
- Manage and vet grants associated with program development or program enhancements. This includes oversight and management of Program Admin responses to governmental RFPs, audits and programmatic contracting responsibilities.
- Develops and incubates new programmatic ideas and initiatives for the organization.
- In the absence of the Chief Program Officer, represents the Chief Program Officer and provides support and guidance to program leadership.
- Maintains effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as other government, private and non-profit partners.
- Represents Safe Horizon at conferences, media, and meetings with government officials, community-based organizations, and potential donors, acting as a compelling advocate for Safe Horizon’s programs with internal and external stakeholders.
- Eight years of relevant leadership experience in program design, development, and implementation required, providing supervision within a geographically dispersed social service organization providing direct services
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field. LCSW, preferred.
- Knowledge of issues related to victimization, crime, and abuse or social service
- Commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression work including self-reflection, changing systems, organizational structures, policies and practices and attitudes, and supporting staff through change and discomfort.
- Demonstrated managerial experience, discretion and negotiation skills, direction and leadership, mentoring staff, evaluating performance, and providing performance feedback
- Excellent interpersonal, platform and presentation skills to communicate with internal or external audiences;
- Solid time and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex issues at the same time and exercise sound judgment.
- Computer literacy and analytical skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Must possess an understanding of data as a management tool and helping others to understand data.
- Willingness to travel within all New York City boroughs.
