Position Summary
This position is 20 hrs/week with the ability for some remote work. The Marketing &
Communication Specialist will collaborate with the Development team in the planning,
development and implementation of marketing and communications efforts. This role will
focus predominantly on organization-wide marketing and communication efforts;
including: quarterly newsletters, annual reports, donor
communications, social media posts, website articles & year-end appeals.

Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center is a small, thriving non-profit that enjoys robust support
from community members and funders. We work closely with a multi-disciplinary team
to serve and advocate for children and teenagers that have experienced sexual abuse,
physical abuse, trafficking, neglect, and/or have witnessed domestic violence and other
violent crimes. We also support their non-offending caregivers, which is essential to the
child’s healing and recovery. Safe Harbor is a trauma-informed space that values the

trauma and empathic strain that can result from working with traumatic material. Thus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Content creation for organization-wide marketing efforts, including social media, website, annual report, newsletters, email marketing, and print collateral.
- Assist in development of Safe Harbor’s marketing & communications strategy
- Oversight of Safe Harbor’s social media platforms and implementation of new and creative social media strategies to improve the agency’s reputation and recognition.
- Work with program staff to capture stories that highlight and bring awareness to Safe Harbor’s work
- Respond to and assist staff with marketing needs
- Monitor metrics and make recommendations to improve stakeholder engagement
- Keep abreast of best practices, trends, tools & techniques related to marketing
- Event Marketing & Logistics: Work closely with the Development Director on all event logistics including marketing, planning & execution
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of related work experience (marketing, social media/website management, communications, journalism)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Must have strong written, verbal, and organizational skills - and great attention to detail
- Desire to work in the nonprofit sector, with a strong commitment to social justice and to communicating the work and mission of Safe Harbor to the public & our supporters.
- Graphic design skills preferred
- Experience in non-profit environment/fundraising preferred
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
