Safe and Sound is seeking reliable, engaging, and experienced teachers. Teachers to provide safe, structured, and enriching programming for children ages 3-12 in a group care setting.
This role requires strong classroom management, adaptability across age groups, and the ability to create a positive, fun, and safe environment in a non-traditional classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and engage children ages 3-12 in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities including games, crafts, STEM, and group play
Maintain active supervision of children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities
Effectively manage behavior using positive guidance strategies
Support children's social-emotional development, cooperation, and self-esteem
Adapt activities to meet the developmental needs of mixed-age groups
Communicate professionally with other staff, parents, and program supervisors as needed
Follow all company policies and state licensing regulations
Maintain attendance records, incident reports, and other required documentation
Set up, organize, and clean activity spaces before and after program hours
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
Experience working with children in a group setting (childcare, preschool, aftercare, camps, or recreation programs)
Strong understanding of child development principles across early childhood and elementary ages
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Calm, patient, positive, and dependable demeanor
Ability to manage behavior effectively and serve as a mediator between children
Willingness to follow instructions, accept feedback, and work as part of a team
Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Background screening required per state and city regulations
Preferred (but not required):
CDA, FCCPC, or related early childhood credential
Experience with mixed-age programming
Experience working in a summer camp type setting
