Busy pediatric dental office looking for a Dental Assistant to provide cheerful, superior service to our valued patients. You must be excited to learn new things. Job Title: Dental Assistant

Summary: Assists the Doctor with dental functions as well as the preparation/clean up of treatment areas by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Seats, prepares and dismisses patients as well as provides oral or written pre-operative and post-operative treatment instructions.*

2. Performs preparatory procedures such as taking, developing and mounting single PAs, BWs, and FMX’s., and developing panoramic X-rays on a daily basis.*

3. Assists Doctor at chairside with a variety of procedures and maintains Doctor's work schedule and patient flow between operatories.*

4. Takes impressions accurately and according to training.*

5. Performs procedures including but not limited to inserting and cementing intraoral appliances and delivering all patient education related to dental care. Provides all patient education related to these procedures on an as needed basis.*

6. Takes and develops all extra and intra oral radiographs as treatment indicates.*

7. Prepares work areas to include stocking, setting up, breaking down and cleaning as needed.*

8. Applies knowledge and ability regarding tray/instrument/equipment set-up, break down, management and sterilization procedures.*

9. Performs hand piece and instrument sterilization and management.*

10. Maintains the sterilization area to include cleaning instruments and restocking trays.*

11. Sets up treatment areas for appointments including paper products, disposable and designated instruments/materials as needed for procedures.*

12. Maintains general dental office equipment including but not limited to the suction system, X-ray processor and all sterilization equipment.*

13. Remain aware of stock level at all times. Have list of what we need to restock by Thursday each week.

14. Establishes and maintains contact with suppliers and Sales Representatives regarding supplies as needed.*

15. Maintains the updating and accuracy of patient’s charts.*

16. Performs duties to include resetting and treating tofflemire bands, refilling cotton roll holders, refilling equilibration papers and other such activities.*

17. Tracks all incoming and outgoing laboratory cases.*

18. Prepares space maintainers and other intraoral appliances for laboratory fabrication with a detailed list of pertinent information.*

19. Flush drains once a week.

20. Follows all company policies and procedures paying special attention to patient care and safety, and respectful communication with other team members/employer.

21. Provides support to office personnel when primary responsibilities are completed including but not limited to:

- setting and confirming appointments and/or filling schedule

- filing patient charts

- checking in with Doctor/Office Manager

- maintaining a clean work environment.

24. Maintains ability to assist the Dental Hygienist team.

24. Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Internet Explorer; and order processing systems.

Certificates and Licenses:

Certified Dental Assistant preferred

Radiology Certification

CPR Certification

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
