We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the financial health of a growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP and grant requirements, and providing financial analysis to support organizational decision-making. You will work closely with leadership, auditors, and operational departments to ensure financial integrity and accountability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial reports.
- Managing month-end close processes and maintaining the close calendar.
- Supporting annual financial statement audits and Single Audits.
- Overseeing payroll-related accounting, payroll taxes, employee benefits, accounts payable, and cash management processes.
- Reviewing payroll transactions and serving as payroll backup to ensure continuity during staff absences.
- Maintaining retirement plan contribution accounts and coordinating required fund transfers.
- Preparing grant invoices, reconciliations, Federal Financial Reports (SF-425), and drawdowns in compliance with Uniform Guidance.
- Supporting budget preparation, financial analysis, and accounting policy development.
- Assisting with Medicare and Medicaid FQHC cost reporting, PPS reconciliation activities, and HRSA Uniform Data System (UDS) financial reporting.
- Reconciling patient revenue, payer remittances, and 340B program activity when applicable.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum four (4) years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with automated accounting systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll, accounts payable, cash management, and month-end close processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare accounting experience.
- FQHC experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Medicare cost reporting, grant accounting, payer reimbursement, revenue cycle accounting, pharmacy/340B programs, and value-based contracts.
- Experience with MIP/Abila, ADP Workforce Now, Power BI, EMR systems, and financial reporting tools.
- CPA designation or active CPA candidate.
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
