Sadler Health Center is hiring a Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the welcoming first point of contact for patients and visitors at our community health center. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering an exceptional patient experience — from check-in through check-out — while keeping our front office running smoothly and efficiently. What You’ll Do
- Greet patients, interpreters, and visitors warmly in person and by phone; respond to inquiries and provide accurate information about schedules and services.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out, including verifying and updating demographic information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Schedule appointments and maintain the daily appointment schedule in accordance with office scheduling policies.
- Verify insurance eligibility, collect co-pays and balances, and reconcile all charges and payments by end of day.
- Assist patients with sliding fee scale applications and income verification in compliance with FQHC guidelines.
- Coordinate patient flow by communicating with clinical staff about walk-ins, cancellations, and delays.
- Review schedules throughout the day to ensure accuracy and appointment status is up to date in the EHR.
- Assist with medical records scanning, prescription routing, and patient recall documentation.
- Maintain a neat, organized reception area and adequate inventory of office forms and supplies.
- Open and close the clinic’s reception area and support daily front office operations.
- Handle all patient information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in healthcare, medical assisting, or office administration preferred.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience working with the public, plus 6 months of experience in a medical, dental, or healthcare setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort learning electronic health record systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a high-volume environment.
- Professional, calm, and patient-centered communication style with individuals of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Basic math skills for payment collection and cash handling.
- Ability to work from 9:30 am to 6 pm – with the flexibility to alternate scheduled to meet business needs
- Ability to travel between SHCC locations as needed
- Bilingual strongly preferred.
